A Week of Early Winter.

Hello, hello! How is the weather in your area? In a surprise move, the weather here has completely skipped fall and gone straight to winter. Now, normally it wouldn’t be a surprise except for how early in the year it is. Honestly it seems like most years we don’t get truly winter weather until January. Nope, not this year.

This winter weather only confirms my thoughts that this year will be a colder winter than normal. It’s about time for it anyway. It’s also serving as a reminder that Christmas, and Ade’s birthday, is not that far away. I may have panicked a little when I saw a post claiming “X amount of Fridays until Christmas” on Facebook, even though we’ve already started receiving the Christmas presents we ordered for the kids. Like so many things this year, I’m not sure what Christmas will look like for us this year. I’m trying not to focus on it, though. The reality is that whether we gather together or not, the core of Christmas is the same as it always has been. For us, it’s a time to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ. Everything else is just an added bonus.

But we still have a couple of months before approaching that particular obstacle. I did have my first glass of Eggnog last night, though, so maybe I’m already getting into that holiday spirit. For you fellow eggnog lovers, yep, it’s on store shelves already.

It seems like this week is a big one for us. I was looking over Ade’s schoolbooks this past weekend and realized he’s ready for the next grade. We’ll be finishing a few things up this week and then next week it’ll be on to the next thing. He seemed intimidated when I first told him, but after I told him he’s already there, asking the questions and exhibiting the signs telling us to pass Go, he calmed down. On top of that, Isbe might be joining him in actual school work soon, too. Not next week, but soon enough. She’s already trying to figure out the alphabet! I do predict that Ade will be the mathematician and Isbe will be the reader. Then again, they are constantly surprising me, so who knows!

Another thing about this week is the second season premier of The Mandalorian. If you’re obsessed with Star Wars as our family is then I’m sure you, too, have been counting down the days until Friday. I’m not going to lie, while I am a complete sucker for Baby Yoda (who isn’t?) I am most eager to see how Rosario Dawson portrays Ahsoka Tano–who is, admittedly, my favorite Star Wars lady after Padme Amidala Skywalker. I hope we don’t have to wait too long for her to join the party.

All in all, it looks like it’s going to be a good week. Freezing, yes, but a fun one. I hope your week is as fun and joyful as ours is. Do you have anything you’re looking forward to? I’d love to hear from you! Happy Tuesday!
