Over the weekend, I was catching up on reading some blogs. When I read that Shelly over at Growing with Spawn had been nominated for the Dazzling Blogger Award, I though it well deserved. I love how honest and kind Shelly is as she writes about mental health, blogging, and life in general. Even though she lives in a different country, I always seem to be able to relate to her. So yeah, I definitely think she deserves such an award. I was surprised, however, when I read my blog was one of her nominees! My brain honestly short circuited. Thank you so much, Shelly! I am so grateful for the nomination.

The Seven Questions
What is the first thing you do each morning?
The first thing I do is stumble to my coffee machine. I am not a morning person and I need a big cup of coffee to kick start my brain most mornings. Lately, though, I’ve been trying to wake up a little earlier so that I can pray over the day and my family.
How long does it take for you to write a blog post, edit, and post it?
Since I like to write my posts that day, it takes me generally two hours from the time I sit down to the time I publish. If I have notes or a mostly written post already, it can take me closer to an hour. I aim to have posts out by mid-morning, but as we all know, that doesn’t always happen as easily as bibidi-bobbidi-boo.
What is the thing you fear the most in the blogging world?
Ooh. Hmm, that’s a good one. When I first started blogging, I was so afraid of an invasion of privacy. I know that sounds a little odd as I am constantly writing about my life. However, I try to protect the privacy of my family and my friends, especially that of my kids. If you don’t know, I actually gave my kids nicknames to help keep their privacy. I love helping people, I have always believed that we go through things so we can help others, but not at the risk of my kids’s safety.
If your blog had an expiration date, what would it be? And why?
I love writing and I’ve dreamed of having this blog for a long time, so I don’t really see myself stopping. Thinking about it, though, I would maybe put a stop to it if I became too busy writing and publishing books? Even then I don’t know if I would actually stop blogging. Maybe just have more guest bloggers? I have a dream of reaching people from all over the world and I don’t see that going away.
How has your blog transitioned over its lifetime?
Well for one, it has more structure than when I started. My posting was a bit of a mess when I first began blogging. There have also been topics that I’ve mostly phased out. When I first began, I had a Fitness Friday and a Monday Meals. As I feel under-qualified to write about those two things so much, I’ve reduced how much I post about them. Now I have First Friday Fitness, posted on the first Friday of every month, and I still write about my experiences in learning to cook, but I’ve started phasing that down a bit, too.
Who is your blogging bestie? And why?
Unfortunately I do not have a blogging bestie. Yet.
If you were featured on the news, what would it be for?
Does it count if I use past experiences? Because I have been in the newspaper for writing. I’ve placed in a few writing contests over the years. I also worked on a film project with a director friend of mine that received some media coverage. But if we’re talking about today…maybe dancing? Or for finally publishing my first book.
